FAQ

Be sure to read the entire Race Details page in addition to this FAQ to make sure you have all the necessary info about the Second Annual Portsmouth Half!

Packet pickup/registration is from 6:30 a.m. to 8 a.m., so we suggest arriving no later than 6:30 a.m. to ensure you have time to park, pick up your bib, and get to the starting line before 8 a.m.
We’ll keep the course open in accordance with a 3:30 hours finish time, or approximately 16 minutes per mile. We’ll keep the signs on the course up for the very last person but water stops may be self-serve toward the end of the race.
Because wearing headphones greatly reduces your ability to hear race marshals and car traffic, our insurance provider requires us to prohibit the wearing of headphones during the race.
Yes! We simply ask that you start at the back of the pack for safety reasons and abide by all lane guidance signs and cones.
No, dogs are not allowed on the course.
Porta-potties are located at the Start/Finish and at the halfway point.
There will be four water stops about 2.5 miles apart.
There are no changing facilities available, so please show up ready to run.
Yes, There will be a bag check tent near the Start/Finish and you must return there to pick up your bag after the race. Articles of clothing that are left unclaimed after the race will be donated to a local homeless shelter. Loco Races is not liable for any losses or theft that may occur. Please be sure to pick up your bag by noon.
Spectators can also park at Great Bay Community College and take the free shuttle with the runners to the start and finish area. The shuttle will run before the race from 6:15 a.m. to 7:45 a.m., and after the race from 9 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. There’s no parking available at Mercedes-Benz Of Portsmouth!
It is highly recommended to stay at the start and finish area to view your runners. The course does one small 3 mile loop and you will be able to cheer everyone on at this point. After the three mile point the course does an out and back section where we strongly discourage any cars on the course for the safety of our runners. If you do drive out to watch the race, you’ll most likely be stuck in runner traffic and not get back in time to see the finish, so we recommend staying at the dealership to see both the start and the finish.
The course will not be closed to car traffic but there will be runner lanes with cones, signs, and race marshals directing traffic.
Prizes are awarded to the top 3 men and women finishers overall, and to the top 3 men and women in the following categories: 19 & Under, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, and 70+. Awards are picked up at the Awards tent near the finish. Awards will not be mailed.
Shirts are available in unisex S-XXL sizes. You select a size during online registration but we allow you to choose a different size at packet pick-up because we know that sometimes shirts fit a little differently than you expected. However, because people can change their minds at the last minute, we don’t actually know how many of each size to order. We do our best to estimate (and we even order extras), but sometimes we run out of a particular size. So, if it’s really important that you get a specific size, be sure to arrive at packet pick-up as early as possible.
We’re sorry, but there are no refunds, transfers or deferrals.
Thecourse is certified and accurate according to USATF standards. However your GPS measurement of the course is bound to be different and will most likely show the distance covered to be “long.” This is normal, and here’s a very technical explanation why: In GPS We Trust.
